Hidden Lanzarote - The lion

I like observing things around the place and sometimes I do wonder if other people notice them too. 

This is where the idea of this new section on my blog come from. 

See how well you know Lanzarote, how much attention to detail (shapes, colors, etc) you pay, how observant you are. 

This first one it reminds me of the famous sculpture "La bocca della verità" but lion-style.

Nuevo reto: Corro por GILDA

La Protectora de animales SARA de Lanzarote tiene muchos gastos fijos para atender a todos los animales que tienen a su cargo en espera de una adopción responsable.

Además demasiado a menudo SARA tiene gastos adicionales a causa de emergencias, como es el caso de GILDA, que ponen a esta asociación bajo una presión económica aún mayor. 

GILDA, tiene 3 añitos, es una siamés que fue encontrada en la autovía de Arrecife. Tenía la cadera y fémur roto. El coste total de su operación, los rx y el tratamiento asciende a 380€.

He decidido participar en los 5km de la carrera Disco Night Urban Race del próximo 7 de mayo para recaudar fondos para aliviar a la protectora de estos gastos adicionales que asistir a GILDA les ha ocasionado. 

Cada euro que podáis donar será bienvenido y muy, pero que muy, agradecido. 

Y si no podéis donar, sólo os pido que ayudéis a difundir su historia.

New challenge: Running for GILDA

The Animal Shelter SARA (Protectora de animales SARA) in Lanzarote has a lot fixed costs to tend to all the animals they look after while they wait for a responsible adoption. 

On top of that, far to often, SARA has additional costs due to emergencies, like GILDA's case. These emergencies put the shelter in a lot of pressure financially. 

GILDA is 3 years old and she is a Siamese female found in the Arrecife motorway. Her hip and femur were broken. The cost of the operation, the X-rays and the treatment is 380€. 

So I have decided to run the 5km of the Disco Night Urban Race on the 7th of May to raise fund to provide some financial relieve to the shelter from the additional costs that tending to GILDA has caused.  

Every euro that you may donate will be very, very welcome.
And if you can not afford to donate, please do share her story.

Comederos artesanales personalizados y benéficos

Una amiga mía recientemente se ha venido a vivir a Lanzarote con sus dos border collies y estaba buscando un regalito original para darle la bienvenida a sus dos peludos: Aulay y Tam. 

Aulay y Tam recién llegaditos a Lanzarote

Es por esto que me puse en contacto con Janequa Tavio y Elena Muños porque había visto en Facebook que hace cositas muy bonitas reciclando palets. 

Charlamos por whatsapp un poquito, le expliqué que es lo que tenía en mente, me ofrecieron las opciones, tamaños y colores que había, total, que en un plis plas teníamos los comederos diseñados.


Me avisaron de cuando estarían a punto y quedamos para recogerlos. Incluso me mandaron una fotito antes de recogerlos para ver si me gustaban. ¡Y me encantaron!

¡Parece que a los peludos de mi amiga también!

Gracias Janequa y Elena por vuestra profesionalidad y buen hacer.

Además de cada venta que hace, una parte es donada al rescate de los animales en la isla. 

¡¡¡Bien, bien, bien, me gusta aún más!!!

Funds raised for SARA at LIM 2015

OK, so it´s taken a while, but here is the summary of a fab day at the Lanzarote International Marathon 2015:

€168,45 were raised online
+ €16 more were raised in cash

so a total of €184.45 were raised. 

Far from the €5,000 goal but enough to care for nearly 5 dogs for a month at SARA Animal Shelter.
