OK, so it´s taken a while, but here is the summary of a fab day at the Lanzarote International Marathon 2015:
€168,45 were raised online
+ €16 more were raised in cash
so a total of €184.45 were raised.
Far from the €5,000 goal but enough to care for nearly 5 dogs for a month at SARA Animal Shelter.
Thank you very much to all who donated!
Thanks to Louise Phillips not only for the photograph but for the support and the fun every step of the way on the day itself!!!
My name is Susana and these are glimpses of my life as I go along. This is my first attempt to blogging, we'll see how it goes... Enjoy!

Raising funds for SARA at LIM 2015
There is no going back...
I have registered to do the "Lanzarote International Marathon" on the 12th of December. Do not get to excited, I'm only doing the 5k ;-)
This is my challenge to raise funds for the animals at SARA Animal Shelter in Lanzarote.
I´m only asking you for 1 € per meter!
Will you help me cross the finish line?
Every cent will be welcome, honest.
Thank you!

Nothing really springs to mind... You see? That is the problem about not writing things down as they happen... let it be a lesson that hopefully I'll learn. Soon.
Oh, wait, there was somthing...
I did a little race called the 2nd "Popular Race 'Challenge' of Mácher"or 2a. Carrera Popular 'Desafío Mácher' as it's know locally.
Only the 5K distance, mind you. There was an option to run 10K which I discarded pretty quickly - I wish I did run that fast!
But as usual, although I did suffer - those hilly starts are going to be the death of me! - I enjoyed it enormously. I also got the support of a friend who although didn't run, was waiting for me at the finishing line. And then we went for a well deserved breakfast and a natter to catch up.
No relevant posts on Lanzarote Information, other than the weekly English movies reviews.
I'll try to keep better track of my enjoyable achievements next month, OK?

April 2014s Joy Jar
I took part in the 2nd Tinguafaya Charity race - another worst personal best and it was only 5k! But finished it with a great feeling, despite of the insufferable heat, because it was for such a good cause and the atmosphere is always great.
Talk to you next month!

I am a bit of a procrastinator and I have been putting off writing this post for Lanzarote Information for ages, who knows why. But I finally got around to it... after months of trying to do it! You can read the post here: Friends of the Wine & Cheese Association.
Finally, another thing I had wanted to do for ages, but in this case it wasn't all up to me as there were other people involved. We ended up doing as a belated surprise birthday celebration: a sushi-making workshop by Sushi Bar Minato in Puerto Calero. Great fun and you get to bring your sushi home with you! Yummy!

Decision time: 10k or half marathon?
OK, in my previous post "10k or half marathon" I said I would...
before deciding by the end of September whether to run the 10k or attempt my first half marathon at the Lanzarote Internation Marathon 2013 on the 8th of December.
Well, this is how it went: the first couple of weeks I only manage to run twice 3k in about 22 minutes each. And then it went down hill.
I won't bore you with the reasons why (although I did have some unexpected traumatic enough experience - if that doesn't justify it, I don't know what would!).
Anyway, despite of my lack of training, I still manage to run a local 5k charity race "Juntos por la Vida" last Saturday in 33 minutes & 45 seconds. To many, not a great mark. But I'm still proud of it, all the same.
So, let's cut to the chase: 10k it is.
As soon as my visitors are gone in two weeks, I'll start a semi-serious training schedule to attempt to run 10k in under an hour which would be my personal best. This is my goal now.
Don't forget the registration fees discount get reduced on the 1st of October & they are full price from the 1st of December - so, what are you waiting for to register?
The post that started it all: 10k or half marathon?
... try to run about 2 or 3 times a week this month to see if I can reach again my longest training route so far of 9k comfortably and see what kind of times I do...

NYR - July results
These are my New Year Resolution results for July:
I also registered for the 1st Popular Race of Quíquere-La Tiñosa on the 3rd of August & the 2nd Cochinilla Trail on the 19th of October. Two more reasons to keep it up! Also starting to think about taking on another challenge race-wise, but keeping a tight lid on it for the moment... will keep you posted if it materialises!!!
Result: passed.
Result: technically failed as I haven´t finished the book I´m currently reading.
I enjoyed food enormously this month. Why do I find it easier to cook for / with other people than just for myself? Does it happen to you too?
The only dish I blogged about & took a picture this month (sadly, because some of them did look nice!): papaya & melon salad..
Result: passed with flying colours!
Result: passed.
Overall, happy, happy, happy. Except for the reading. Will have to find a way...

NYR 2013 - May results
- NYR # 1 - Run
But I on the day I got up and I decided I would give it my best. I had proper energy food (I love pasta!) and I drank plenty of water. I warmed up quite well. And I was determined to have fun during the race, which I did. I ended up with my personal best to date on 10K: 1:02:08 or 6:28 per kilometer. Position 363 out of 679. No real achievement by any pro standards. But a great achievement for me, personally. I manage to finish it, within the time limit of an hour and 15 minutes AND cut my own personal mark by 6 minutes! Now, that's what I call satisfaction.
Even better now I know that I can do 10k within an hour if I set my mind to it. Right, where is the next 10K race?
Result: passed.
- NYR # 2 - Read
Result: passed.
- NYR # 3 - Eat
- meatballs. I did them twice, need to cook them again so I "consolidate" the recipe in my pretty little head)
-carrot jam. Mmmm, yummy. After burning the first batch, managed to produce quite a decent batch of two jars.
- orange, carrot & ginger juice. Delicious and refreshing.
Result: passed. Not with flying colours, orangy/browny tinges mainly.
- NYR # 4 - Walk
Plus I registered for the trekking option of the WineRun that takes place later on in June here in Lanzarote. 10k of walking among volcanoes and vines with the odd stop to sample the land's grapey nectar. Really looking forward to it.
Result: passed.
- Additional achievement - Irish Set Dancing
Result: passed.
Quite a decent month by my NYR standards, if I may say so myself.
